Members of the Quanzhou Marionette Theater and their marionettes took a look around Cai Studio again today. The Studio had the pleasure of being introduced to the lively characters who will be appearing in the October 21st show at Carnegie Hall. Yesterday the Studio welcomed the Quanzhou Marionette Theater who share the same hometown, Quanzhou, as Cai Guo-Qiang and his wife. The group is in New York for their upcoming show at Carnegie Hall on October 21st.

Day and Night: A Public Gunpowder Drawing Event

In anticipation of the upcoming solo exhibition Cai Guo-Qiang: Hanging Out in the Museum at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Cai Guo-Qiang will create two new gunpowder drawings: Day and Night and Taroko Gorge. The event is open to the public and will be held on October 17 & 18 at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei, Taiwan.

For more information and to see a live broadcast of the event, please look at the exhibition site (in Chinese). The live video broadcast will start streaming on October 16th at 9 PM EST.

Friends from Bilbao

On Friday, the Studio welcomed a group of Guggenheim Bilbao members who had flown in from Spain for a Studio tour. Conversations drifted between Chinese, English, and Spanish.
