Cai Guo-Qiang in conversation with Eric Snell, Wednesday, July 25

Just in time for the London Summer Olympics, Cai is currently featuring his sketches and a video from the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in an exhibition at the greenhouse, located in Guernsey off the Channel Islands.  The exhibition, eponymously and aptly titled Beijing Games: Sketches and Video, is free and open to the public.

It is also complemented with a lecture with the artist, followed by a discussion with founding director of Arts and Islands, Eric Snell.

Full press release on the exhibition here.

The ART in Embassies Program (AIE) will be honoring Cai, along with four other artists, for its 50th Anniversary in Washington, D.C. on November 30, 2012.   Cai, Jeff Koons, Shahzia Sikander, Kiki Smith, and Carrie Mae Weems have been selected in recognition of their commitment to AIE’s mission of furthering diplomacy through the visual arts and expansive cultural exchange initiatives.  For more information, please see the AIE website.
